ASTER PANEL BOARD (APB)
Introducing our APB latest innovation - a revolutionary new engineered wood product developed by Young Corporation for use in kitchen and Vanity cabinets.
Astera Inc. is excited to announce our new
cabinet material that will replace our
use of Particle Board.
- Priced at the same level of PB but more than twice as resistant to water.
- All future projects done with Astera Inc. that request Particle Board will now be done with APB
- If you have an upcoming multifamily project that you are looking to bid on, please contact us. We would be more than happy to send you a sample of this new material.
Advantages
of APB vs Particle Board
of APB vs Particle Board
- Twice as resistant to water
- Better hold for nails and screws
- Structurally stronger
- No warping
- Huge competitive advantage over companies promoting Particle Board.
Our material was tested against Plywood and Particle Board and here are the results:
(7 hours of partial submersion)

Deatiled test results
We placed the following materials in a shallow container with 1/4” of water and left them
for 8 hours just to see what would happen. There was a surprising outcome and one we think you will appreciate.
After allowing the samples to then dry for 24 hours we found the following:
- MDF expanded to ~0.85” (Slightly damp to the touch)
- Particle Board remained at ~0.96” (And still completely wet)
- APB increased slightly to ~0.78” (Completely Dry)
- Plywood remained at ~0.70” (Completely Dry)
- Particle Board remained at ~0.96” (And still completely wet)
- APB increased slightly to ~0.78” (Completely Dry)
- Plywood remained at ~0.70” (Completely Dry)

Whilst APB and Plywood expanded about the same
amount, Plywood did dry quicker and with less
overall expansion.
Now for the best news. Our APB material will now be
used in all our cabinet boxes instead of Particle
Board and at the SAME PRICE! You get ~90% of the
durability of Plywood at the price of Particle Board.
The great news is that APB out performed Particle
Board by a long shot: after 24 hours the particle
board is still completely wet. A perfect environment
for mold and bacteria, not to mention VOCs.
This, like our Ball Bearing slides, will be a standard
product for us so need for special orders.
